Celebrations

    • (During winter a terrible storm  covered the land, and there was no light for 3 weeks but on the third week the sun rose, enshrouded by darkness and clouds, and there was light again. No one had ever been more grateful for light so now we celebrate it in the middle of winter to remind us that the sun will come again. We light candles and make lanterns filling the world with light and warmth as a reminder of what it can do. We comfort, love each other, and give gifts, as we did when we were scared and afraid during those dark hours. many silly chants have been made ) (they DO NOT worship the sun, it is a representation of Jesus and how he was dead for three days but on the 3rd day he rose and defeated the grave.)

Traditions

​

  • Each dwarf keeps a small stone/glowing mineral around their necks at all times, to remind them of their old culture (had previously used this mineral/stone in their mines to avoid fires and suffocation from smoke)

  • The Mountain’s Song

    • This song is about the dwarves their old home Alvir created it and is always singing it while he works and adding new lines  

​

  • Life song

    • The Ents go around listening to the life of the forest/life's song 

​

  • The Ents will sing every sunrise

    • It’s the most beautiful and mystical sound you will ever hear

​

  • Everyone mostly has dinner is small groups 

​

  • "Family"

    • They don't particularly have families so they have kind made one for themselves 

      • June is kind of all the misfits of the community 

        • They stand up for her even though almost the entire rest of the kingdom hates her and thinks she makes a mess of everything and thinks she is way too dangerous to be 

​

  • During the winter the Ents care for the struggling trees

    • The make sure they don't freeze to death  

​

  • Centaurs come closer to the village during the winter or at least stay closer together for warmth 

​

  • The Ents guard the Grove 

Creature Specifics (Nationality/Appearance)

Nymphs

​

  • Graceful slender frames

​

  • Melt out of the trees  

​

  • Reflect the appearance of the tree they are connected to 

    • Their hair reflects the bark of their tree 

      • White

      • Brown

      • Red

      • Very long most of the time past their waists 

      • Wild but beautiful and never frizzy

    • Their skin is all different shades

      • Brown

    • They wear beautiful lightweight clothes that have discreet flowing/ flowery designs on them 

      • They will sometimes wear baggy jasmine pants 

      • Also dresses with a simple belt, a flowing shirt, and a simple top

  • They are as tall as full grown trees 

​

  • They are slender and gangly 

​

  • With long arms and long legs 

​

  • They are entirely made out of wood 

    • It can be the wood of any tree one could be an aspen one could be a pine 

    • They look like the twigs and roots wove themselves together to form a giant

  • They are all very unique

    • Some have long mossy green beards 

    • Some have flowers and grass growing all over them 

    • Some are hunched over

​

  • They teach June:

    • They’re basically her venting buddies 

      • The Ents can't talk

      • But they love listening 

      • So she would come and tell them stuff

      • "You always know they are listening... (how) because of the look in their eye like they understood everything"

Centaurs

    • Most of them are well groomed and put together 

      • With sort well kept beards if they are not clean shaven 

      • And hair that is kept short, at about 2 inches 

    • They like to run/gallop wild in the forest and they don't often stay in the village 

    • They have no shirts 

    • Their eyes are bright and clear, and have the brightest, most beautiful, pure colors you could image 

    • It almost looks like the stars are reflected in them at all times

    • Hunting 

    • Encourage her to be herself 

      • “We will teach you our way (to hunt) but one day you will have to find your own way (as a morph). Hunt as you were meant to hunt.”

Weather

Winter

​

  • The temperature is cold and requires fluffy coats 

  • The whole forest gets covered in frost 

  • The snow can’t break through the forest canopy 

    • Except in the clearings

Spring

​

  • The temperature is warm/cool and comfortable 

  • Everything blooms and the forest is absolutely beautiful 

  • The forest floor is covered with ferns and underbrush 

  • Lots of mud

​

Summer

​

  • Temperature 

    • Is warm 

    • Sometimes hot 

      • But the forest floor cools the air (evaporation)

  • The sun shines through the trees 

  • All the trees are green

    • Or in their normal state 

      • Like a cherry tree would be dark purplish

Fall

​

  • The temperature is chilly 

  • All the deciduous trees explode into beautiful colors 

  • The forest floor plants start to clear 

Dress/Clothing

In general

  • Very diverse 

    • Lightweight and flowy dresses for some 

    • Furs and leather for others

  • Cotton shirts, skirts, and pants, almost a knitted material 

​

  • Simplistic soft outfits 

​

  • Meant for house work/gardening/chopping wood

​

  • Even no clothes for others (Centaurs, Ents)

​

  • June wears lightweight cotton shirts and flowy lightweight/tight long pants

​

Winter 

​​

  • Heavy coats for almost all 

    • Except those who are immune to the weather or those who don't wear clothes 

      • Ents/Nymphs 

        • The Nymphs continue to wear their lightweight outfits because they are immune to the weather

    • The coats are very thick and warm

      • They are leather on the outside and are all fluffy fur on the inside  

      • They can reach are waist length

      • Easy to move in 

      • Wrap around itself and buttons (like my fancy coat) 

​

  • Also some thick capes 

    • Although most prefer the coats because they are easier to move in 

    • At least 1/2 an inch thick 

    • With a large hood 

    • Is entirely fuzzy/furry all over 

    • (I think June will wear a white cloak sometime in the book, look in photos)

​

  • Boots also have fur inside and are sturdy 

​​

​

Spring and Summer

​

  • They wear their normal clothes ⬆️

  • Lightweight stuff for dwarves on hot summer days and when working/training

Fall

  • They break out those

  • Cloaks

Dancing

Nymphs

​

  • More fluid and beautiful 

​

  • Almost like ballet almost like they are leaves in the wind

  • Often flute music

Dwarfs

​

  • Fast movements

  • Stiff bodies

  • Limbs at sharp angles 

​

  • Almost symbolizes being one with the earth 

    • Hard as a rock 

​

  • Use fast hard drums

Gnomes

Ents

​

  • They don't really have a dance 

​

  • But they do sing a song 

    • It’s a low hum of a melody 

    • Slow soft but deep and rich 

    • Resounding through stone, bone, and wood 

    • In a language older than time 

      • One without world but rather feelings 

      • Feelings of hope, joy, empathy, pain, justice, growth, and time

  • Although it is mostly hummed if you listen very carefully their are words, old words deep unfathomable words

​

Centaurs

​

  • They don't really have a dance either

​

  • But they enjoy listening to the music and dances of the other cultures 

​

Pixies 

​

  • Don't really have a dance of their own

​

  • They kinda just go with the flow and dance to the beat of whatever music is on

​

  • But like to join in on the others, doing the other sutures dances 

​

Fairies

​

  • Soft and whimsical

​

  • Enchanting and entrancing 

​

  • Like they took inspiration from sirens 

    • Like they prefer to enchant, tease, use their audience instead of actually entertain or give joy to their audience 

​

  • They dance to the sound of their voices 

​

  • Their voices blend together into one sound that entrances and pulls you in 

​

  • It fills your head/mind and makes everything fuzzy and fills your every thought

Special Locations

The Grove

​

  • This is where most of the nymphs trees are planted

​

  • It is a very special place because it is where their life forces are kept 

​

  • If this part of the forest was burned, it could possibly kill all the nymphs in the village
